1.2: Establishing your foundations

Let's start with an exercise

The best place to start is to take a closer look at your posture.

To get the most out of this module, take a few minutes now to go through this exercise.

The exercise will explore how you habitually stand, sit and walk.

It will explain much about how you communicate and show up in the world, I promise!

This exercise will help you begin to become aware of how you sit and how you move.

And really starting to become conscious of this is the first step towards the mastery you're seeking.

Make sure to take some notes on your observations.

or be brave and give the following questions to someone else and ask them to observe you!

Exercise - Awareness Building

  • How do you enter a room?

  • Are you noticed?

  • How do you stand in a room with other people?

  • How would you describe your habitual stance?

  • Where in your body is there tension/restriction?

  • How do you walk?  Slowly? Fast? Cautiously?

  • Is your body pulled back slightly, or pushed forward?

  • What parts of your body move first when you walk?

  • Do you drop your shoulders or hold them rigid?

  • When you're sitting, is your body pulled back, leaning forward, or collapsed?

  • do you make yourself bigger or smaller in the chair?

Make sure to take some notes on your observations.
